Location
The cottages are located on Easdale Island which
is the smallest permanently inhabited Inner
Hebridean island off the west coast of Scotland.
Situated in the Firth of Lorn, fifteen miles south of
Oban, the island lies 200 metres from the Isle of
Seil. The island is half a mile long and a quarter
mile wide, has no roads or vehicles and is served
by a small, local authority passenger ferry which
runs extensively in the summer with a slightly
reduced service in the winter.
Historically, Easdale
was an important centre for slate quarrying and
now boasts a newly renovated community hall,
an award winning museum, a successful marine
eco-tourism business and a young, pro-active,
full-time community. The island has a charitable
trust which undertakes regenerative projects e.g.
hall renovation and the restoration of the historic
harbour. The positive and thriving population
of full-time residents and second home owners
have worked together to make Easdale a vibrant,
successful and sustainable community.
